SVS PSO: Call for Work Group Volunteers for Nat’l Opioid Epidemic
The SVS PSO is forming a work group to examine how the SVS PSO might help members respond to the national opioid epidemic. The work group will be asked to make formal recommendations to the SVS PSO Executive Committee on how the VQI can help assist members with this issue. The work group’s suggestions will be informed by recommendations from the National Academy of Medicine, Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), the regulatory environment and evidence-based practice to improve outcomes for the vascular surgical population.
Dr. Peter Henke, Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Michigan, will be leading this SVS PSO work group. If you’re interested in becoming an active member of this work group, please send an email to Cheryl Jackson at firstname.lastname@example.org by February 28, 2019. Please include your CV and a statement describing your interest on the topic of the Opioid Epidemic.
Once the work group has been formed, we will meet by phone on a monthly basis. We will likely meet during VAM, which takes place June 12-15, 2019 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, National Harbor, MD (outside Washington, DC). Reminder – VQI@VAM takes place June 11-12 prior to VAM.
In the interim, the National Academy of Medicine will be hosting a webinar on this topic and was kind enough to let us forward this invitation to VQI members.
Please join the National Academy of Medicine on February 13, 2019 from 4-5pm ET for a webinar hosted by the Action Collaborative on Countering the U.S. Opioid Epidemic. The webinar will feature an overview of the Action Collaborative and the work it will undertake over the next two years to share knowledge, align initiatives, and advance multisector solutions to improve outcomes for those impacted by the opioid epidemic. There will be approximately 20 minutes following the presentations for questions and answers and feedback with the public.
