Michael Englesbe MD of the Michigan Surgical Collaborative to speak at first VQI Annual Meeting
Dr. Michael Englesbe, Associate Director of the Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative, will be the Keynote Speaker at the first VQI Annual Meeting, and will address the opportunities and challenges of using registry data for quality improvement.
Dr. Englesbe has an active research group with a focus is improving the quality and efficiency of surgical care. More specifically, his work focuses on the relationship between the costs and quality of surgical care. Further, Dr Englesbe’s work focuses on patient frailty, morphomics, and surgical outcomes. In addition, he has written numerous manuscripts on portal hypertension and portal vein thrombosis in adults and children. He has funding for his work from the National Institute of Health, the American Surgical Association Foundation, as well as numerous other institutional and foundation sources. He serves on the national committees of several surgical societies including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the American Hepato-pancreato-biliary Association, and Studies in Pediatric Liver Transplantation.
The VQI Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, one day prior to the official start of the 2016 Vascular Annual Meeting (VAM) at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, National Harbor, MD (just outside of Washington, DC). VQI@VAM will offer a full day of educational content geared toward helping attendees gain a better understanding of the VQI registries and quality improvement skills necessary to leverage the maximum potential of the VQI data to improve vascular care.
