Below are frequently asked questions regarding legal information and the contracting process with both the SVS PSO and M2S.
For general FAQs, please see FAQs about the VQI.
What is the Vascular Quality Initiative?
The VQI is designed to improve the quality, safety, effectiveness, and cost of vascular health care by collecting and exchanging information. Its consists of the SVS Patient Safety Organization (SVS PSO), regional quality improvement groups accredited by the SVS PSO, and a cloud-based data collection and reporting system managed by M2S. Learn more about the VQI.
What does M2S contribute to the VQI?
M2S provides the IT platform and infrastructure on which the VQI operates and as well as IT services required by the SVS PSO. The IT platform securely stores the VQI data and enables access to such data by VQI participants.
What does the SVS PSO contribute to the VQI?
The SVS PSO provides a legally privileged, confidential environment in which VQI participants may view and analyze VQI data for patient safety purposes.
Why are participants required to sign four agreements?
M2S and the SVS PSO are separately owned and controlled and each provides different services to the VQI participants. Hence, each requires a separate agreement. In addition, each is a separate Business Associate of the VQI participants and, under HIPAA, must sign separate BAAs with the participants.
